Late ABC Wednesday! S is for...

S is for Saint under some Spanish Moss

At least, I think he is a saint. Does anyone happen to know which one?

Update: He is St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment :) I think it might be the exact statue pictured on wikipedia, in fact. Thanks to Janie and an anonymous reader!

We find Spanish moss all over the South, but especially on our Live Oaks. Don't let its pretty face fool you - it's actually harmful to the trees. It is also not a moss (or a lichen), but I guess it looks like some varieties; hence the name.

I took the first shot at the previously featured Destrehan Plantation in New Orleans. The second is from kayaking on the South Carolina barrier islands last Thanksgiving.

I guess Saturday night is a bit late for ABC Wednesday, but I'm headed over to the site now to see what 'S' posts we have this week, so I thought I ought to go ahead and post mine, too ;P

Non-ABC Wednesday: No Parking!

It has been Wednesday all day, amazingly enough, but I just completely forgot about ABC Wednesday this week. I guess I have been too busy with work to think about much else. I haven't even visited many ABCers today - just a few favorites - and now it's bedtime. :P

Since I don't have an 'R' post for today, I will just have to think extra hard about 'S' for next Wednesday. ;)

Today's photo is from my trip to New Orleans a couple weeks ago. I saw this sign while carrying some pizzas down the street in one hand, so I grabbed my little point-and-shoot camera out of my purse with the other. Since all my other photos from that trip were on my new camera, I completely forgot about this one until I found it yesterday :)

Wasp & flowers at Destrehan Plantation

I'm not sure what kind of flowers these are.. :(
