Enemanit

Enemanit is a smaller, far less populated (really, virtually unpopulated, I think) island in the Majuro Atoll. A Majuro local often takes his family (and Rex, the dog) there on Sundays for a day at the beach. His family generously welcomes quite a few visitors and newcomers to Majuro onto their boat, which is how we made our way to Enemanit on Sunday.

We stayed there all day. We snorkeled over the reef for a bit, women in t-shirts and skirts over shorts, not bathing suits. Then we were fed a delicious lunch, after which we few spent quite a while exploring the tide pools on the ocean side. Everyone else remained on the lagoon side, where I imagine the swimming is safer.

At first glance, the ocean beach seems pretty barren at low tide. But if you stop for a minute and watch, you suddenly realize that everything is moving, and every shell is inhabited..

There are more photos in the Enemanit gallery.
