On the way to Cobá last week, our tour bus stopped at a co-op, which our guide said is run by full-blooded Maya descendants. He said our resort was very careful about only choosing a place that sells authentic merchandise--real silver, onyx, etc.--unlike many of the cheaper markets in the area. In contrast to the "flea market" in the hotel district, which we'd visited earlier in the week, we found this one to have all around nice items, and to be much more reasonably priced. Also, we were left alone to just browse if we wanted, rather than being accosted every time we turned around by another salesman. The flea market was an experience, to be sure, but I liked this market much better. We all bought some beautiful gifts to bring home for friends, family, and ourselves.
On the way back from Cobá, we stopped at the same place and ate lunch in the adjoining Restaurant El Balam. While we ate, these dancers danced for us. They were fantastic! I was very impressed with their bottle-balancing skills. I had seen people dance with bottles on their heads once before in Paraguay, but that was a long time ago and a different dance. I really enjoyed this.
And.. that's the end of my photos from the trip to Cancun, since Friday was my visit-the-doctor-and-the-spa-and-just-relax day, and then Saturday morning we left! So tomorrow it'll be back to daily photos :)

That's something I'm definitely going to try! With plastic bottles ;-)
What a nice and colourfull place that is. (Can you please stop posting all those lovely sunny tropical vacation photos now? *sigh*) (just a joke ;-))
Oh, and I've left an explanation about how to pronounce their names in the commentbox on my blog ;-)
No worries! These were the last tropical happiness photos :(
I have two left feet, so trying this with any type of bottle would be an absolute disaster..
