If I where you I would check the spectrum of those fluorescent lights. Some of them can have very narrow bandwidths that might not be of much use depends on the dye used by the lamp manufacturer). However, there are so-called Day-light tubes that may be a better solution.
RuneE, thanks for the tip! It never occurred to me that some lights might not have a full enough spectrum. I opened up the cover over the lights, but couldn't find a brand or anything written on the bulbs.. perhaps I shall go fluorescent shopping before the week is out.
Picture Each Day began one summer as a way to share photos of the Maine coast with family and friends for the couple months that I stayed there. I had such a good time trying to take at least one picture every day worth sharing that, after a brief hiatus, I decided to keep the blog going.
I don't promise that the photos will be good, but at least I have fun taking them. They are almost all taken with my little point-and-shoot Canon SD750 (there have been a couple times the only thing handy was my cell phone), or my newer Canon 40D DSLR. I try to post them on the dates they were taken.
Clicking on any image will take you to a gallery where you can view a larger version. To view just the galleries of photos, no blog, visit: www.pictureeachday.com
