Signs I am a nerd: Part I

Tonight I needed a die for a story I was reading, but I didn't have one. It took me a couple minutes to come up with a solution, but finally I realized - I could just take out three coins and do it in binary!

I still had some Mexican pesos in my wallet so I used those :)

What kind of story could I need a die for, you ask? It was a parody of those "choose your own adventure" stories, in a collection of short stories by Garth Nix, an Australian young adult fantasy author whose Old Kingdom trilogy I recently fell in love with. I'm kind of a sucker for fantasy and science fiction, especially for young adults, which I guess is just another sign..

If you don't know how to count in binary, you should learn!
It helps to remember your kindergarten days of "ones," "tens," "hundreds,"...

...and then you'll understand this quote, a favorite among my fellow computer science majors in college ;)

There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't.

Hehehe, against my better judgement I hopped over to your 'you should learn'-link. And again it became very clear to me: maths is NO fun, maths had NEVER been fun, maths will NEVER be fun.
I simply do NOT understand anything with numbers. If I see numbers I panic. Even that page you linked to had me hyperventilating, hehe.
On a more positive note: had I been good in maths, I'd probably been even worse in English
;-)

And of course I meant to say that 'maths have NEVER been fun', not 'had'. Or did I? I'm confused now, still hyperventilating ;-)

Ohhhh, I think math is SO fun! It makes me so sad when people don't like it :( :( :(

But I really enjoy when Europeans say "maths," so I guess your comment evens out in the end :P
