Okay, so maybe not the most exciting 'L' there is, but I did go there this evening and peruse their selection of desk lamps. (No, I didn't manage to go before work, despite what I said yesterday.)
Yep, that lava lamp in the back and the funky red guy in front were hanging around in the desk lamp section. Not exactly your traditional desk lamps, but to each his own.
But what I'd really gone to buy (finally!) was a Grow Light
which I've propped on the legs of a couple chairs over my little seedlings :)

Good heavens above! That picture of lamps in Lowe's makes me feel I've been transported back to the sixties!! I never thought I'd see those things on sale again! LOL!
I wonder what is special about the 'grow light'? Is it daylight quality?
Lamps are a necessity both for us and for the plants - and the plants are a necessity for us....
But this IS an interesting post. What kind of plants are that by the way? Are they legal ;-)
Jay, yes, the light is supposed to have a full enough spectrum to emulate the sun. Hopefully :)
They are goofy lamps, aren't they? ;P
RuneE, So true :)
Carolina, hahaha.. they are bell peppers! I'm pretty sure they're still legal here :P
Lowe's, huh?? Whenever I go there with my hubby, he grabs my hand and makes me skip up and down the aisles.
Your photography talent is amazing! (I was going to ask about those plants, but I see someone else already did. :P)
I'm glad I could amuse you as much as I amuse myself. :)
My seedlings would like that, except I don't have enough electricity. I guess I'll have to depend on the good old sun (when it comes out). I remember the lava lamps from the 60s, goes to show if you wait long enough everything will come back. I invite you to come see my 10,000 year old lake water. - Margy
I love your Lowe's post...I posted once about the Home Depot, and embarassed to admit I was sort of ashamed to be so ordinary (!).
Your grow light set up is so simple I NEVER would have thought it. Great job.
Well, if Lowe's is helping you grow seedlings then I think it's a very exciting L. ;-) Neat post.
Lava lamps are still going strong in the village I live in. At least, there's always one in the lamp shop's window. Might be they just can't shift it...
I can not see your photos for some reason, but I thank you for your comment on my site!
My macro photo is taken by an old, German Exa camera long, long before digital time :)
It is a slide and I have scanned it.
Have a nice weekend!
Thank you for your post. I like your L selection, by the way. we could sure use a store with the variety and the prices of Lowes in London. I have to make do with IKEA and B&Q, a sad substitute.
Skittles, I can see how Lowe's could make one want to skip. It's an exciting place! ;)
Margy, I assume that means you have a lot more seedlings than I do :) I certainly will come check out your lake water! It sounds intriguing..
Geno's Garden, thanks! At least I am not the only one who's been so ordinary :P
EG Tour Guide, hehe, that is a good way of looking at it :)
Mara, they were still going strong when I was in high school, too! And that was only in the late '90s, so I know they survived well past the 60s.. wouldn't you expect the fad to have died out by now?
Lene, I wonder why :( I hope it was only a temporary problem - I have had a problem once before when the website that hosts my photos (zenfolio) was down for a bit. Maybe the same thing happened..
Rachella, I have to agree that IKEA is a poor substitute for Lowe's.. there's one in Houston and I went many times while I lived there. They don't have the same home improvement products that Lowe's and Home Depot do. I don't know what B&Q is; have to go look it up.. ;P
