O is for Basil.. no, really!
Oops, I am so very late for ABC Wednesday - it's nearly Friday here now! Can I get this posted before the stroke of midnight?
Yesterday, I inadvertently learned my basil plant's scientific name while browsing websites on how to care for it: it's Ocimum basilicum :)
This morning when I opened my blinds, they managed to grab my Ocimum by its leaves and pull it straight up out of its jar! I have it in a jar of water to sprout some roots, which it is doing beautifully. It is a cutting from Central Market, that grocery store of recent Picture Each Day fame.
More ABCs at ABC Wednesday!

Did the ocimum basilicum survive its ordeal of being brutally ripped from his sanctuary?
Wonder if it was thinking Ouch. Good luck with the Basil, a lovely herb.
Aha - good one! That's definitely an 'O'! LOL!
Poor Basil. I bet he didn't enjoy his impromptu flight!
Mara, it was rough, but his injuries seem minimal. I think he's going to make it! :)
Joy, haha! I bet he was!
Jay, I'm sure he didn't - although I have to admit that I did find it a little amusing. :P
Hi Pictureeachday! Poor Basil, blinds are not to be trusted! Great idea by the way to take a cutting that way. I'm not so good with bringing up plants, but I'll try this at home. Well away from the blinds though.
Glad to be back and to enjoy your pictures and stories!
Hugs xx

Carolina, I'm so glad you're back!! I'm not very good at plants either, so I'm trying to start simple :) Another easy herb to start from a cutting is mint - you just want to plant it in a container after it has roots, because if you put it in your garden it will take over :-\
