Baby steps

(Click on photos for larger versions)

Who's that outside my window?!

I'm not sure what kind of lizard he is, but isn't he interesting looking? His back legs look very froggy to me, and he's missing his tail!

I turned off the autofocus for these photos and focused manually - look at me and my baby steps in learning how to use my new camera! My other camera would have insisted on focusing on the window screen, so I was very happy to have the manual option :)

One thing I learned in my photography course was that if you go close enough to a wire fence, the lens won't 'see' it at all. I don't know if it works with something as fine as a screen.

Try going really, really close to the screen (an inch or so) and see if you get better results?

Oh, he's gorgeous! I love little lizards! They shed their tails to escape being caught be predators, and then grow new ones. It's a pretty amazing thing to be able to do, don't you think?

Huh ... I thought this comment had gone through, but I forgot to choose a profile. This is supposed to be first! LOL!

Jay, thanks for the tip! I wonder if it would work, focusing on something as close to the screen as the lizard was? Something I'll probably play around with this evening ;)

How strange that it didn't give you some kind of error message on that first comment. I love little lizards, too! I see so many different kinds here in Texas, and they're always so interesting to look at. I should start doing some research on them because I don't know much about them. The shedding tails thing is very cool! Nature is just amazing sometimes.
